Apparently,it was her 75th birthday, and her son had ordered the flowers. (I know....how sweet,right?!)
But that's not the point of this post. My point is...
When the guest checked in,I got the immense privilege of being part of the relay team to get this lady her flowers by presenting her flowers to her after getting her started on her paperwork. She had NO idea to expect them.
Then,while she's reading the card, up walks her son (who had driven her there) and she's all embarrassed happy, saying "ahh, you shouldn't have" and such...but beaming! :-)
The thing is...
- I didn't order the flowers
- I didn't pay for them
- I didn't design the bouquet
- I didn't get to enjoy them beyond a brief time
Even though I was just one leg on this relay race, I still cried happy tears because my role blessed me.
I may not have had the idea,nor paid the price,nor created them, but I got to present them,and help put that smile on her face,and make her day that much better!!
- The Good News isn't our idea,nor did it cost us....It's Abbas's love letter to humanity. (like the son)
- We don't create the beautiful message, the Holy Spirit does,and delivers it to us (like the florist)
- We get the immense privilege of blessing others and helping them realize their freedom and beauty. I knew the lady had flowers before she did...I just got to present them to her! The final leg of that relay race.
"a relay race will eventually end, but when we spread the gospel it is like a seed planted into the ground..."
{Thanks,J!}
This incorruptible seed of joy,love and peace will (hopefully) be planted on good ground, cultivated,and produce fruit to repeat the process.
