Ahh...The mall,a great American tradition. Full of choices...from the stores...to the extras (massage, hair cut,or movies?!) to the food (tacos, burgers,or Asian?)
Recently,I was visiting a local mall, and when I walked through the door,I was met with not only the scents and smells of the place, but a smiling food court worker, offering me a sample of the business's wares...Hot,delicious, juicy, tender, perfect bourbon chicken.
Hours later, when I was ready for a meal, and deciding which of the many restaurants I wanted to enjoy,(I mean, have you seen that food court,or the major chains attached to the mall?!) it wasn't a hard choice.
See, that one little bite of bourbon chicken had been on my mind almost the entire time I was shopping.
So,I hustled back to the smile, and the chicken...with out them beating me over the head with "come eat here, come eat here"... forsaking all other restaurants, even some more convenient, willing to pay, for MORE of what I had been freely given... because I was HUNGRY..and these people helped me realize that...(weird psychological effect, huh? give humans food, and even if we're not,we're hungry!) ...but they also showed me the well to satisfy that hunger.
Um...sounds like Church to me! Or,rather, what church should be.
Meeting people where they're at, giving them the opportunity to
- taste and see the Lord is good,
- realize He's what they've been wanting and seeking and hungering after
- know He's the one that can satisfy that craving, and
- unlike the bourbon chicken place, he's closer than the nose on our face, and available 24/7!
So,go love on someone!
